Where Your Heart Is Honored

One of the greatest satisfactions in my life comes from knowing that somehow I have made a difference in the lives of others. Whether I am giving massage or a hypnotherapy session it is fulfilling to remind my clients that they are the warriors and warrioress of their own lives. I believe we have a great deal of influence to heal our emotional and physical pain with a little help from others.
From 1987 to 1999 I worked as a firefighter and emergency medical technician on a local municipal fire department. For most of the twelve years of service it was satisfying to help people during medical aids, fires, and rescue. Eventually I began to feel less rewarded by the emergency work. My need was to be more involved in personable one-on-one relationships with people I came in contact with. One day while I was receiving a massage after a long exhausting night of firefighting I was struck by the wonderful, healing energy that was being given by my massage therapist. I thought it would be rewarding to give others the pleasure, nurturance, and relief that I was receiving. Immediately after the massage I inquired at Mueller College, about education and after more than 520 hours of training, became a certified massage therapist in August of 1998. In 1999 I left the fire service to practice the healing arts full time. What I bring to my work as massage therapist is prescience and sensitivity to the needs of my clients. I have a strong interest in the human muscular form, health, and well- being. During massage therapy I alternate between yin (soft, subtle, intuitive) energy and yang (firm, aggressive, deep) techniques.
To balance my work as massage therapist (predominantly physical work) I studied hypnotherapy (psychological work) at the Alchemy Institute of Healing Arts and became a certified Master Hypnotherapist with well over 300 hours of training at the Alchemy Institute of Healing Arts. I have been practicing hypnosis since September 2000. I am always pleased to help clients connect with their own inner resources to move past destructive habits, thought patterns, or blocks in their lives. The hypnosis process is highly effective in helping individuals see themselves more clearly with quicker results than most other forms of therapy. Many of my clients have seen me for both massage and hypnosis.
Other interests and training that help me while working with clients include well over 200 hours of intense training in Compassionate Communication. I am also trained as a Vision Quest Guide (approx. 200 hours) through the School of Lost Borders.I have a special passion for this nature-based work. A Vision Quest is a ceremonial rite of passage whereby participants connect with nature and self while spending time alone in the wilderness, usually fasting from 1-4 days. During the stay in wilderness a powerful symbolic death and rebirth takes place thereby letting go and inviting in the new. This process can be an intense life changing event for teens as well as adults. Teens may choose to be properly initiated into adulthood, acknowledge their personal gifts, or discover a life purpose. Adults may want to mark elder hood, deal with the death of a spouse, or celebrate any other significant time or proclamation in life. From time to time I offer workshops in Compassionate Communication and Vision Quest experiences. Please check the workshop page of this website for the schedule.
